Phantasy Star servers still under attack as Sonic Team comes out fighting
Enough is enough as inernational police move to protect game servers
Ever since Sonic Team put up the servers for Phantasy Star Online, they have come under attack from teams of hackers around the world. No doubt tempted by the massive interactivity of the game, a successful hack would make an exact and lasting impression on an entire community of gamers.
Sonic Team has announced that it has tracked a group of hackers, based outside of Japan, and disclosed their whereabouts to Interpol. This particular group of hackers, though not causing a great deal of damage to the hard game system, were messing around with item definitions and distributing dodgy and modified items online.
Hacking is taken very seriously in Japan, more so than in most other countries, and Sonic Team is eager to make an example of someone in an attempt to deter other attacks.
