Dreamcast price tumbles again. Sega makes it rude not to buy one Stateside
Sega of America has dropped the price of the Dreamcast again, in America, to a staggeringly low $79.99, about £56, which, we are sure you will agree, is very, very cheap indeed.

“By taking these steps, we are confident that we will meet our sell-through goal and we are excited to be able to offer consumers an excellent choice in consoles this holiday season," said Peter Moore, President and COO of Sega of America. "Besides its affordable price point and incredible library of content, Dreamcast continues to be the only console offering out-of-the-box online gameplay right now.”

This is a good point made by Moore, but perhaps the message is a year or two too late. The Dreamcast undoubtedly boasts the most comprehensive software line up of any console available at this point. It is online, broadband if you are lucky, out of the box. It is supported by a ton of excellent quality Sega first-party titles. It’s now only $79.99 in America; a price we can expect to see converted to pounds in the not too distant future.

Sega of Europe refused to comment on any European price drop, stating, “We have received no word of a price drop for the Dreamcast hardware in Europe. Sega head office has sent us no instructions to drop the recommended retail price.” Don’t worry, though. Sega Europe said exactly the same thing a week before the last price drop.
