Kitase Still Not Tired of Final Fantasy VII Queries

But still no FFVII

Kitase Still Not Tired of Final Fantasy VII Queries
Final Fantasy producer, Yoshinori Kitase, has been doing the rounds with version XIII - but he still gets asked about FFVII... and he's still not bored with it. Although, he's still not going to be re-making it.

Recently Kitase-san had indicated that the HD graphics would make FFVII to hard to remake. This time around, he's less down about the whole thing.

Speaking to GameTrailers he says, "So as the hardware develops there's so much more that can be done for the game. Visual capabilities are up. The quality is so high right now. So in a sense I’m really interested to see this more complete form of a Final Fantasy VII portrayed more realistically with the voice and animation and all the subtle expressions there."

"I would be interested to see that and to make that would be a great experience. I don’t get tired of people asking that question, so I will continue to answer my thoughts at that time as long as people keep asking."

We'd be interested too. How about you?

I'd be happy with just voices and a visual up-date to be honest, but If they wanna change Aries to Aerith and change the names of spells like Bolt, Bolt2 and Bolt3 to Thunder, Thundara and Thundaga then that would be fine too.

Wait...that would be an improvement? Thundaga? Serious?

Bloody Squeenix Fanboys...look, I can't believe I'm saying this (subbed anime Nazi that I am) but not everything (most especially made-up names) is better in the original Japanese...Thundara and Thundaga sound and look uber-lame (too lame for umlauts) 'Sides....isn't Thundara the home planet of the Thundercats? (also lame)

Those ARE the original Japanese names, they have always been Thunder, Thundara and Thundaga

Here, lemme remove some of the parentheses to make it easier for you to read.

so you'd have preferred the exact same words written in Jap?

nah, I'd prefer someone to exercise some creativity and come up with some better names...though I don't really see much wrong with Bolt, Bolt2, and Bolt3, when it comes right down to it. They're short and convey the necessary information in a fairly traditional RPG sense, I'm sure at the time, the short part was the most important, what with our deficient alphabet of a mere 26 letters. If you really object to them (and have room for them), say something like Thunder, Lightning, and Storm.

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with Bolt, Bolt2 and Bolt3, but if the remakes of 1 to 6 use the original names and not the f**ked up translation, then a remake of 7 using Bolt, Bolt2 and Bolt3 would look out of place I think.

Fair enough, as far as it goes...

Thundara and Thundaga (especially Thundaga) still look dumb.

Still rooting for no remake.

The name changes aside, the greatest allure of a FF7 remake, I think, would be the opportunity to better explore the FF7 world. We all enjoyed the original, and the sequels only whetted our appetites. Besides, how cool would it be to fight in the Gold Saucer with a Kingdom Hearts battle system, and the chance to play as any of the Avalanche characters?

Not very, I'd rather them keep the original system.

I don't see how they'd make this work, but, could be interesting.
