Following Viacom's demand for Rock Band bonuses to be repaid, Activision has added to the pretendo-guitar game genre with a studio closure and relocation. It was confirmed over the weekend that the mega-publisher is closing Underground Development and moving the remaining staff at Red Octane from its current home in Mountain View, California.
The company told
Kotaku, "As part of our overall strategy to release fewer skus for
Guitar Hero in 2010 we are closing the Underground studios and relocating RedOctane to our Santa Monica headquarters under the leadership of David Haddad".
These moves comes after Activision laid off staff at Prototype developer, Radical Entertainment; Neversoft (
Guitar Hero and
Tony Hawk when it was good), and
Kung Fu Panda guys Luxoflux.
