More unimpressive Xbox shots released. Great!

Cartoon racer first look. Xbox still without killer app.

Electronic Arts has released the first screens of the game, Cel Damage, developed by Pseudo Interactive for Xbox. The title is not a typo but a clever pun on the fact that Cel Damage contains a load of cartoon characters damaging each other. Animation cel. Get it?

The game has been touted by Electronic Arts as being a “frantic vehicular combat title that reaches into the violent and wacky world of cartoon physics to present vehicular combat with a fun new twist.”

The game does look like a lot of fun. Tom and Jerry style giant axes and comedy frying pans abound in what is a Mario Kart style racer cum car battle.

We are, however, concerned about the look of the game though. The level of graphics, like so many Xbox games we’ve seen, doesn’t seem to pack the punch we were promised from the “next big thing” in interactive videogame entertainment. We understand that this is a cartoon game and the graphics are representative of this fact. But still, we’d expected more visual variety and detail.

Cel Damage is likely to be a launch title for Xbox when it debuts here next year.
