Konami has been good enough to release the first shots from the European build of the latest game in the ISS series, Pro Evolution Soccer, known as ISS World Soccer Winning Eleven 5 in Japan.
To date the series has sold over 5.5 million copies across platforms dating back to the early nineties.
For this game Konami has gotten on the license trail and secured the FIFPro license meaning that any players affiliated with FIFPro can have their names and likenesses used in the game.
Konami is keen to stress that this latest PlayStation 2 ISS outing will be a graphical treat. The first ISS game for the console looked decidedly rough and coupled the worst looking crowd ever in a videogame with terribly jagged pitches and stadium lines.
Interestingly, Konami has adopted a new AI engine which it claims will portray the individual players as accurately as possible. “The freedom of motion each of the 200 team players has been tripled compared to that seen in ISS Pro Evolution 2 with a much wider range of actions available,” said the company in a statement. “The AI engine has also been improved to take advantage of the processing speed of the new hardware so each player’s playing style and originality is more detailed.”
No European release date has yet been confirmed, but expect to see the game before Christmas this year.
