Platinum Games, the developer behind Bayonetta, has revealed its latest project, headed by Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami – it's a futuristic action game called Vanquish.
The title was announced by way of teaser trailer, which had its world premiere on GameTrailers TV recently. You can watch it below, and be amused at the American version of Margaret Thatcher that features within. Vanquish stars a chap clad in futuristic, white armour who is called to stop surprise attacks on American soil. Looks like space colonies will be involved.
No reveal on what kind of game Vanquish will be, but the design and feel of the trailer gives us a cross of Halo, Gears of War and Resident Evil. It will be interesting to see just what sort of control and perspective Mikami will go for here.
We'll also have to wait to find out what platforms Vanquish will be developed for, and whether SEGA will ultimately be involved. It signed a deal with Platinum Games in 2008 to publish three games from the studio's portfolio. Those games ended up being Infinite Space, MadWorld and Bayonetta. With the relationship doing wonders for SEGA as of late, we'd be surprised if the company didn't try to extend that partnership.
