Japan’s Fair Trade Commission has ruled that Sony Computer Entertainment breached trade regulations and continues to do so with its PlayStation consoles.
In a statement, the FTC said that Sony pressured retail outlets to sell all PlayStation and PlayStation 2 titles at their full retail price.
It also ruled that SCE directed wholesalers to supply only those retailers that would only sell to end users which, it said, unfairly hampered free distribution.
Sony Computer accepted the ruling. "We respect the FTC's stance and will make sure that our policy of not setting resale conditions on wholesalers for PlayStation hardware and software is observed," it said in a statement.
