Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep maintains its chart-topping position in Media Create's Japanese Software Top 10 (11th - 17th January 2010), beating back Nintendo's New Super Mario Bros. Wii by over 38,000 copies. It leads a decidedly lacklustre chart however, with week-on-week sales slumping across the board.
1 Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep Square Enix (PSP) - 177,405
2 New Super Mario Bros. Wii Nintendo (Wii) 138,683
3 Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles Capcom (Wii) 72,804
4 Tomodachi Collection Nintendo (DS) 54,764
5 Wii Fit Plus Nintendo (Wii) 48,518
6 Tekken 6 Namco Bandai (PSP) 25,131
7 Last Window: Mayonaka no Yakusoku Nintendo (DS) 24,668
8 Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks Nintendo (DS) 22,414
9 Wii Sports Resort Nintendo (Wii) 22,328
10 Inazuma Eleven 2 LEVEL-5 (DS) 20,370
(Note: Chart position is first, then game name, publisher, format and sales for this week)
The top two games blocked any chance of Capcom getting a #1 position this week, with Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles finally shipping in Japan to the tune of over 70,000 sales. It was the best-selling newcomer however, with the PSP version of Tekken 6 and Nintendo's Last Window: Mayonaka no Yakusoku hitting 6th and 7th place respectively.
Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver have been knocked off the Top 10 for the first time in what feels like forever this week, settling for #11 while Tomodachi Collection, Wii Fit Plus and Wii Sports Resort maintain their momentum. Those three will possibly never leave the chart.
