Ubisoft: All Our Studios Are Committed To Social Networking
Ubisoft France CEO Geoffroy Sardin spoke with Gamekult about the company's plans to expand its business into the social networking area, with the announcement that every Ubisoft studio is working hard on integrating some form of online social networking into their games.

The publisher recently acquired TrackMania and QuestMania developer Nadeo to achieve their social networking vision, but the idea is not to watch over their shoulder and micro-manage them. “Nadeo is not in the studios of Ubisoft... I, personally, I've never met [with the studio since its acquisition]. So it proves the independence they have and we want them to continue their adventure.”

“[Nadeo] enjoys the support and knowledge of Ubisoft, but mostly we are now experts in the community... that will help us to develop just about anything online,” Sardin continues. “And Nadeo is at the top of this level, especially for communication with their community.”

Despite such eager moves to expand, the French CEO admits that Ubisoft's share in the sonicla networking space is “growing exponentially, but still tiny compared to [the company's] overall business.”

Facebook is one of the key drivers of social network gaming, and Sardin reveals that the entire company is looking for ways to integrate services and applications into its games. “All the studios of Ubisoft in the world are working on that subject. They all mandate to consider applications on Facebook.”

Finally, when asked if Ubisoft might continue to acquire companies in its quest for social networking dominance, Sardin referred to the company CEO, Yves Guillemot, who said that he was interested in working with other companies if the opportunities were right.
