Nintendo of Japan is gearing up to launch its GameCube console later this year, readying the first shipments to Japan, with Nintendo of America doing likewise.
The company has announced that it will have 500,000 units available for Japanese launch and expects to shift 900,000 by the end of the year.
Nintendo of America will make 1.1 million consoles available at launch.
The launch dates for the GameCube in Japan and America are September 14th and November 5th respectively.
Nintendo also confirmed that, although only standard purple machines would be available at first, more colours will be brought to market.
There is still no finalised date for a European release of the GameCube. Nintendo will only say that it will be coming out in Spring 2002.
