The release date of Quantic Dream's interactive novel, Heavy Rain, will be revealed on the European PlayStation Blog later today, SCEE has told SPOnG.

The official word comes after US subscription video show, Qore, displayed a North American release date of 16th February - a date SCEE says is inaccurate. We asked whether the European release would be the same as the supposed US one, and received the following response;

"No, that's not the correct date for the UK (or the US in fact). We should be announcing the date on the EU Blog at some point today, I hope."

With Quantic Dream being a French developer working closely with SCEE, we wouldn't exactly call it a leap of faith to imagine that the game would launch in Europe around the same time as our American cousins. But, you know, stranger things have happened.

Heavy Rain is one of the wildcards of 2010, with a unique gameplay and narrative that is quite unlike other action and adventure games. It's also being touted as one of, if not the first game, to successfully cross the 'uncanny valley' – the art of creating hyper-realistic human models without making them look unnaturally 'too human'.
