Sony Trademarking Continues: voyAgent
The trademark filing continues! Not content with Cloudsurf, it appears Sony Japan has also gunned for the name “voyAgent”, which appears to offer the exact same service – entertainment services over the Internet to electronic devices such as video game machines, digital cameras and CD players.

Specifically, voyAgent appears to cover “game services provided on-line from a computer network; entertainment services, namely, providing on-line computer games, music, video and related information; rental of audio equipment; online distribution of music, image or video; providing on-line electronic publications, not downloadable; online distribution of radio and television programs.” Phew.

But this covers the exact same specifications as the previously reported Cloudsurf. The difference in Cloudsurf's filing is the ability to provide “telecommunication connections” to mobiles, remote computer terminals and databases. Sounds like one service for Sony Ericcson's line of mobile phones and another for everything else, perhaps.

What do you think Sony is playing at? Could it be exploring all sorts of potential options to name the mysterious service? Perhaps it plans on using a different name for each kind of electronic device? Who knows – conspiracy theories in the comments box please.
