Lost Planet 2 Delayed Further Into Q2 2010
Capcom has delayed Lost Planet2 again, to the second quarter of next year. The Financial Times is reporting a “large profits warning” as a result, because it will miss the company's financial year end in March.

The game was originally heading for a late 2009 release, but was pushed back to Spring 2010 to avoid clashing with Modern Warfare 2. Now, due to the bottleneck of games we're facing in the January – March period, Capcom has moved the game further to “maximise sales”.

Capcom CFO, Kazuhiko Abe, confirmed that the delay was entirely a marketing strategy and not reflective of a development issue, stating that Lost Planet 2 was on schedule for release in March.

A statement from the company reads: “Capcom believes that delaying the launches of its own titles will avoid competing with these new games, maximise the sales volume of the new Capcom games, and preserve the value of the brands associated with these games.”

The FT says that the company's net profit stands to be 77 per cent lower than expected when March 2010 comes around. We wonder what will happen, now that there appears to be 'too many games' appearing early next year. Will other companies follow Capcom's lead and help pad out a quiet Summer period?
