Codemasters and Rocket Media have released the first screens of the latest TOCA game in development, TOCA Race Driver for the PlayStation 2. There is a God!
Due out at some point in 2002, TOCA Race Driver will be the latest game in the killer series, which has, in its time, yielded massive critical acclaim, with accolades including a better racing experience than Gran Turismo 3 being in no short supply.
It's no longer sufficient or exciting to deliver a new edition of a best-selling franchise that just recreates previous editions on a new format, said Gavin Raeburn, Codemasters' Studio Head and Producer of the TOCA series. We have got to move on from the expectation that a sequel can be justified by simply adding more cars and tracks. With TOCA Race Driver we want to move the whole racing genre forward by delivering a very personal experience that the gamer can passionately connect with.
Codemasters currently has a team of 45 coders working away on the modelling, environments, physics and handling of the game which will be initially available for the PlayStation 2, with a PC version to follow.
