Earlier this month EA Games president, Frank Gibeau, talked about revitalising Medal of Honor... that would possibly have been around the time that Modern Warfare 2 was bubbling away. Well, EA's not revitalised it, the company has 'rebooted the franchise'.The official blurb (
the full thing is here) tells us that: "For the first time in the franchise’s 10-year history,
Medal of Honor is leaving the WWII theatre and putting players in war-torn Afghanistan."
Yes, no courting controversy there. We're all going to fight in an unwon, possibly illegal tawdry conflict. Hooah!
Anyway, it's a first-person shooter game. We're told that, "The development team has been working closely with Tier 1 Operators from the US Special Operations Community since the earliest stages of development to create the most authentic modern war experience."
Make of that what you will.
EALA is developing the single-player which features a solider who is a 'precision instrument' called the "Tier 1 Operator", he's 'relatively unknown' and carries out operations that other people wouldn't. Executive Producer Greg Goodrich, says that "We are honored to have the rare opportunity to work closely with these men to create a game that shares their experience."
To "compliment the single-player", EA DICE is being used.
Showing a firm grasp of perspective, Sean Decker, VP and General Manager of EALA, says, "EA has always been an advocate for telling the soldiers’ story.
"We felt it was important to tell the story of today’s war and today’s elite soldiers via today’s most relevant medium – videogames".
