Those who are pining for a bit of Sonic the Hedgehog love next year will be pleased to know that a new compilation of classic Mega Drive titles will be hitting the Nintendo DS next year. Sonic Classic Collection was announced yesterday via SEGA’s Community Blog, and includes four 16-bit games to get your portable spindash on.Games included are
Sonic the Hedgehog,
Sonic the Hedgehog 2,
Sonic 3 and
Sonic & Knuckles. Lock-on technology is
said to be present in this collection, which will allow players to experience the complete
Sonic 3 & Knuckles saga from beginning to end.
Interestingly, the press release mentions some unique features for the DS, including a “save anywhere” functionality that will pause your game from any point so you can return to it later. A hoard of videos and other collectibles will also be included.
