Yannis Mallat, CEO of Ubisoft Montreal, has explained that Ubi' could be releasing games and movies simultaneously. However, he doesn't want to blur the lines between those two media.Speaking to the
Financial Post, Msr Mallat explained that "Ubisoft will use the capability of future videogame consoles to render images -- in real time -- as clear as those from a high-definition television program."
He explained, "That might mean [Ubisoft] releasing movies and video games at the same time... Why not?"
He then appears to disappear into some form of word-diversion, almost making sense but just about avoiding it with these two peaches:
"I don't want to get into the pitfall of blurring the lines between film and game. We're trying to build capacity to tap into other entertainment experiences. The value lies on the way to get there."
And this...
"3D is to pictures what Dolby Stereo was to sound. No one wants to go back to mono." Bearing in mind that Ubisoft is heavily invested in James Cameron's Avatar movie and game, you would expect to say that. Let's hope he's not put off by a
recent preview of the movie that included the following classic line: "Even the review's praise comes with a sting in the tail. "There are some beautiful moments... but overall it's a horrible
piece of shit."
