It's nearly Xmas and people with 'facts' and 'figures' need to be heard. In the Blue corner we have Cowen Group analyst Doug Creutz. In the Red corner we have UK discount website My Voucher Codes. Both need to give you their opinions on PS3 vs Xbox 360 sales over the Greedmas season.Bear in mind that Doug's in the US and Voucher-Me-Up (or whatever) is in the UK. But given that pricing policy for both regions and consoles is supposed to be fairly even, we think a point can be made about, well, guessing.
First Doug and the USA. Speaking to
Gama he says, "With the frontline Xbox 360 console (the Elite) also retailing for $299, we believe Sony now has, for the first time, a significant price advantage at retail, particularly in the minds of serious gamers who are more likely to be considering the PS3 vs. the Xbox 360 Elite rather than the $199 Xbox 360 Arcade version."
What of the UK and the Vouchers'r'Us survey?
CVG reports that
Mark Pearson, founder of My Voucher Codes UK saying, "A couple of months ago, little separated the two in terms of units being sold through our site, but November has seen a huge surge by Microsoft's budget friendly console, backed by a stellar PR campaign.
"If sales stay at their current rate, the Xbox 360 will outsell Sony's console by three units to one, a marked defeat. Both companies want their console to be under the Christmas tree this year, but there can only be one winner."
The UK and the USA, separated by a common language and buying habits, eh? What are you buying this Xmas? Tell us in the Forum.
