DSi XL Conquers Japan's Weekend
The DSi LL (known as the DSi XL in the West) launched in Japan over the weekend, and the mad rush of businessmen and short-sighted OAPs contributed to the new revision selling 103,524 units in two days, handily squashing Sony’s PSP Go’s first day sales.

Famitsu.com reports the early sales data from its parent company Enterbrain regarding the sales. While having an impressive weekend, sales of the new variant DS weren’t enough to topple last year’s launch of the DSi. The original two-camera revision sold over 170,000 units in its first two days on shop shelves. The PSP Go in comparison sold little over 28,000 in its first day, and weekly sales have sharply dropped since.

Seems that there’s more than enough interest for a larger-screened DSi in the land of the rising sun, and it is suggested that both the DSi and DSi LL could co-exist in ways the DSi and DS Lite could not. The handheld was launched on Saturday the 21st November, and it will be interesting to see full hardware numbers by the end of the week.

The new Nintendo DS revision is to be called the DSi XL in Western territories, and we should be expecting it sometime next year.
