All Change at Nintendo America as Main steps down
Nintendo of America stalwart Peter Main has announced that he will be retiring early next year once the roll out of the GameCube has been completed.

Though Main’s position is described as executive vice president for sales and marketing, he has been the most recognizable face of Nintendo of America and has seen the company through the past fifteen years closely guiding the progress of every console in the territory since the NES.

“Sometimes the term ‘industry legend’ is overused,” declared Minoru Arakawa, President of Nintendo of America. “But in the case of Peter Main, it is perfectly appropriate. Many common industry practices were literally invented by Peter over the last 15 years, and we would not have achieved our phenomenal success without him.” It would appear that Main is held in fairly high regard.

Peter MacDougall from Nintendo Canada, who has been with the company since 1989, will replace him. “Peter’s unique qualifications make him ideally suited for this job,” said Arakawa. “His breadth of success is a distinct asset given the global nature Nintendo’s of business.”
