Steambot Studios and Bluepoint Games (of Blast Factor fame) have announced on Steambot's blog that they have created a proof of concept real-time demo for a sci-fi adventure game called exodyssey. The two united studios are hoping to find a publisher and potential investors to make this a PS3-exclusive hit. Those of you crossing your fingers for a Mass Effect game on the PlayStation 3 should probably stop, uncross and recross them again for this project instead.
Based on a collaborative illustration book of the same name, exodyssey tells the story (in the book, through the medium of conceptual artwork) of a future war where humans leave the Earth for 'exo-planets' to survive their destruction, and stars protagonist Harry who holds the key to the secrets behind the conflict as he travels to alternate versions of familiar planets and space stations.
The illustration book features work from concept artists behind Assassin's Creed, Prince of Persia, Far Cry 2, Splinter Cell and Deus Ex 3 to name a few, with Steambot Studios hinting that the book and the game (should it pass the proof-of-concept stage) are only the first few pieces of the exodyssey universe. With past work history like that, wouldn't the best people to approach be Ubisoft at this point?
So while we all hope that this promising title gets made, you can watch a trailer for the illustration book below, and see plenty more screenshots on Steambot Studios blog.
