Hideo Kojima's been doing the press rounds for Konami's
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker lately, and in the latest issue of Famitsu magazine (intercepted by
1UP) the game director hinted of a few new features to the PSP stealth game, including a feature that will make you want to buy a PSP right now!
Speaking about the game's size and what players can expect, Kojima states "I'm putting everything I want to do on a portable console into this game. I haven't announced this yet, but there's another feature in here that will surprise people, to the point where they'll want to go out and buy a PSP right now!"
Other features mentioned include an implementation of the Yamaha Vocaloid software, which will allow in-game AI weapons to sing and shout stuff while pumping bullets into you. The 2D cutscenes will also be interactive, allowing you to move the camera around (and underneath character's clothes apparently!) to better see the action.
Art Director Yoji Shinkawa explains, "If you zoom in on the scene where you first meet Paz, you can see the uniform she has on under her coat, and then what's under that. It's an idea I can up with while thinking about what makes games different from movies or animation. I think it's pretty interactive."
Finally, on future handheld games, Kojima notes an interesting direction for game development. "Right now, games are always bound by the capabilities of the hardware. In the near future though, we'll have an era where you can just connect to a host computer with your portable and play all sorts of great games. I'd like to experiment a little and see what kind of
Metal Gear game would be best for that kind of environment."
Sounds an awful lot like Remote Play 2.0 to us. Colour us intrigued.
