But we can't tell why...

Konami of Japan has made some worrying comments about the future of the awesome Silent Hill for Microsoft’s Xbox, that makes out like the company is struggling with development for the machine.

“We're unsure of the timing on the XBox version,” said a spokesperson. “Konami has never made any announcements regarding the timing or availability of the XBox game. We intend to try to get the XBox version out within a few months of the XBox launch, but there are a lot of outside factors that can impact scheduling.”

What outside factors? Konami refused to comment on what this meant when questioned today, and we cannot work out what is meant by this. It is well known that Microsoft has been acting like the fairy godmother of videogame developers over the past year, dispensing cash to ensure a strong level of loyalty and wide range of support. These issues will not stem from Microsoft.

Perhaps Konami is waiting to further gauge the level of support for the XBox. The console has had two high profile maulings recently at the Tokyo Game Show and E3. The Japanese have been sceptical about the XBox ever since it was initially announced, and Konami is amongst the most Japanese of developers, if you’ll pardon the phrase.

We will bring you updates as we get them.
