Harmonix and McCartney Set Beatles Record Straight
Harmonix founders, Eran Egozy and Alex Rigopulos, have been speaking at length about what a nightmare it was to set up the company that is to bring the world CGI Beatles in The Beatles: Rock Band. The standard history of: meeting at college; simple idea; everything looked neat; nightmare as idea didn't turn into money; being bought by a company (MTV) who "totally 'got' us as a music company"; everything brilliant... unfolds and then we hit this:

"Initially, we had put together our own set of these (Beatles) facts - things like how the haircuts originated and other bits that have been accepted as fact in Beatles mythology over the years - and brought it to (Sir) Paul (of McCartney) to review.

"We went through it moment by moment, and many times Paul was like, 'no, it didn't happen that way', and corrected us. So, one of the fun things about releasing this game is that there's going to be all this stuff that Beatles superfans will say 'you didn't get it right!', but in fact we'll be setting the record straight on some of the fallacies."

So, despite all the previous histories of the band - even the ones with input from the members - it now looks as if the video game will be definitive. It's not a game, it's a bloomin' history-changer.

Oh, and Ringo had some input as well, says Egozy, "Ringo would say, 'You know, when I drum, my elbows don't quite go up that high.' And a week later we'd come back to him with a modification."
