OnLive is opening the beta trial of its cloud-based game streaming technology to the general public.
US residents can get in on the action over at the
official website. A blog
post from OnLive founder and CEO Steve Perlman says that the company is looking to test the service over a range of different "speeds/locations/types of broadband services, a variety of different PC and Mac configurations, several kinds of input and display devices, etc".
OnLive, if it works, will enable users to play games with minimal amounts of hardware thanks to remote servers doing all the heavy lifting. More on how it works
over here.
So, one step closer to the death of the traditional console?
