Codemasters has put out a video explaining the audio in Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising. No, stop yawning! Audio's dead important in OFP2, you see. It certainly can't be denied that, going by the video, a lot of work has gone into it.
“The sounds in Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising are very authentic”, says audio lead Oliver Johnson. “We’ve strived to record every vehicle and every weapon in the game. We know how passionate people are about the game and how passionate they are about the sound in the game.”
Chief level designer James Nicholls adds, “It’s really important in dictating the mood of what’s going on, whether you’re using the sound of long-distance gunfire in combat to work out where engagements are or whether you’re using it to target enemy locations during Spec Ops missions.”
So, just watch the video, yeah?
