Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 Dated to Kick Off Against FIFA 2010
October 22nd Konami has confirmed that this is the release date for the agnostic's favourite video game: Pro Evolution Soccer 2010. This will see with the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC versions versions in play. This is also 20 days after EA's FIFA 2010 launches. Lets' see if PES can regain its position as fans' favourite having been displaced last time round by FIFA... yes, we said that.

PS2 and PSP versions of the game come out on November 5th, the Wii appears on November 19th.

The game includes Champions League and 'Europa' (yeach) League licenses. There is also the inclusion of official international teams including England, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Brazil and Argentina; Barcelona, Manchester United, Liverpool and Juventus are already onboard for the glory hunters... erm, classy footy fans.

There is tonnes of harcore detail on such additions are 360 dribbling to be found right here.

Been playing FIFA since the first run on the Mega Drive and have to say that 09 was the best yet. With all the new bits coming to FIFA 10 PES won't get a look in, especialy coming so late in the day.

For me, I've never been able to sit down and play as London Blues - I want the realism and don't see the point of an official licensed Champions League and Europa League if the teams are all make believe.

Reminds me of playing Sensi Soccer with their 'funny' teams like Pencil Case Utd and Pub Grub FC.

Absolutely ludicrous comment, you play fifa so you can have official shirts and names, pathetic.

What's so crazy about that?

Would the new Batman be as popular if the main characters, despite looking like them, were called Black Cape and Laughter Man?

If PES was head and shoulders above FIFA then sure, the licenses would be less important, but with them being so close (kinda) I think it's a big fail.

Whilst Fifa had been s**t for a long period of time, Fifa 08 saw a turnaround for the series, with 09 confirming that. 08 was personally an unplayable football game on the whole, but 09 meant PES simply didn't get a look in.

Fifa 10 looks to expand further on these new Fifa foundations, and I'm really excited for it. I'll still give PES a shot (the IIS fanboy still lives on) but if last year is anything to go by, it'll be shelved for the entire season whilst EA's outing gets all my hours.

Licenses don't count for much here - it's all about the football and how well it plays. Fortunately for me, Fifa plays very, very well these days.

PES 09 was god-awful ... I don't know what they did to it to make it play so badly though because it doesn't look like there is that much difference between PES 08 (which was very good) and PES 09 (which is very bad). They still haven't managed to rid the game of 'Pro-Evo Karma' which could almost be forgiven if the game handled well in it's current incarnation - which is doesn't. More power to the FIFA games for getting the forumla right in FIFA 09. Hopefully FIFA 10 will be even better. It might give Konami the kick up the arse they need to make some real changes to PES that will actually make a difference to the game instead of resting on their laurels like they have been for the last decade or so ....

Paul, not all the clubs in the UEFA Champions LEague or Europa League of PES 2010 will be make believe. If you've actually bothered playing the game in the last five years. There names aren't make believe either. It's JUST the Premiership. And all you have to do, is change the name of the team. WHich takes five minutes. All the players are there. La Liga is all there. Serie A is all there. The Dutch and French leagues are all fully licensed too. To be honest Pro Evo has been the best footie game from 1999-2005. PES 5 was the best footie game ever. Since then Konami have made PES worse, with FIFA catching up and finally overtaking PES last season. FIFA '09 was good, but still the gameplay was not on par with PES 5. A game released four years ago.
