Monster Hunter Tri Hitting Europe Early 2010

It's all sub-aquatic and stuff

Capcom has confirmed that it will release Monster Hunter Tri on Wii over in Europe some time in early 2010, when all big games now seem to be set for release.

Over a million units of the game were shipped prior to its launch in Japan. That's pretty good going, we're sure you'll agree.

It does the sort of thing Monster Hunter does. Namely, "Monster Hunter Tri depicts a living, breathing ecosystem where man co-exists with the fantastic beasts that roam both the dry land and the brand new sub-aqua environment - a first for the series", according to the announcement.

There's also split-screen co-op, an online co-op mode for up to four and an AI buddy for people who don't play well with others.

Rather than going internal for its corporo-quote, Capcom hauled in Laurent Fischer, MD of marketing & PR for Nintendo of Europe. “The popularity of the Monster Hunter franchise in Japan is undeniable and the Day 1 shipment number indicates that the release of Monster Hunter Tri on Wii will be another major hit for the series. We are therefore really excited that Capcom is bringing this title to Europe so the Wii audience here can also experience the thrill of the hunt", he said. Excited!? Yes. True story.

The game will be on display at Games Com, which runs from 19th-23rd August.

Am I not alone in thinking that Monster Hunter is a big disappointment? I found the PSP demo unplayable, so I can’t see why this did so well in Japan. Maybe it’s something to do with their love of hunting? What can we expect next, Whale Hunter Freedom Unite?
