It has emerged that Japanese Super developer Square, is underway with the production of the next game in the Chrono series.
The information came from fallen hero and current Square whipping boy Hironobu Sakaguchi.
"There has been a lot of pitching of ideas for a new Chrono game," Sakaguchi said. "Of our staff in Tokyo, a lot of people want to continue the series and create a new Chrono game, especially the former director. Right now we're throwing around a few different ideas for the game, but there hasn't been a green light for production yet."
The fact that understaffed SquareSoft has allocated valuable man-hours to anything but the Final Fantasy series, of which there are an incredible eleven in production at this time, shows that they are serious about the title.
Chrono Trigger, an RPG was released on SNES and followed up by the PlayStation title Chrono Cross.
