The weekend approaches! Nintendo fans know what that means. This week new to the Nintendo download front are: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a Darklord hits WiiWare, Virtual Console makes it to 300 titles and DSiWare gets A Little Bit of... Puzzle League.
In Square Enix's My Life as a Darklord players get up to a spot of tower defense. The official spiel tells us players can, "Step into the royal shoes of the Darklord's daughter as she installs traps and monsters inside her tower to fight back the endless waves of invading adventurers in this world-conquest RPG.
"Placing monsters and floors with traps, called “Artifacts,” inside your demonic tower is your only hope to keep the adventurers from destroying the Dark Crystal on the top floor. Fly across the land and conquer every stage on your way to dominating the entire world!" You can have at it for 1,000 Wii Points.
On the Virtual Console front the Hanabi Festival (which brings previously unreleased-in-Europe titles over here for the first time) continues with MUSHA, originally released on the Mega Drive (or Genesis, if you want to be fussy about it).
We're told, "MUSHA is an all-time favourite among vertical shooter fans for its intense action and exciting gameplay. You are Terri, a girl who pilots a M.U.S.H.A. (Metallic Uniframe Super Hybrid Armour). Terri’s goal is to eliminate Dire 51, an Intellicomputer that has gone out of control and is planning an attack upon humanity.
"Use special weapons like the Vanishing Buster, Blazing Beam and Defensive Detonator to defeat your enemies. Choose from six different types of offensive formation and fly through seven exhilarating levels to finally destroy Dire 51 once and for all!" You can get it for 900 Wii Points.
There's also Smash Table Tennis, originally released on the NES. It pretty much does what you'd expect: "Play against the computer or a friend in a best-of-three table tennis showdown. The goal is to reach a set amount of points while maintaining a two-point lead.
"Use the full range of controls – smash, lob, forehand and backhand – to beat your opponent and send the crowd wild. And look out for a special appearance by Donkey Kong Jr. in the audience!"
Last but not least (well, it's probably least if you don't have a DSi) is A Little Bit of... Puzzle League. It's a falling block job: "Like all good puzzlers, the concept is simple: connect blocks of the same colour to clear them from the screen, and prevent your stack from becoming too high.
"There are four single player modes to choose from: Endless (survive to earn a top score), Clear (eliminate all blocks above the line), Score Attack (score as high as possible in two minutes), and Vs. COM (use items and combos to attack a computer opponent).
"You can choose from a variety of background music to get you ‘in the zone’, and even play in horizontal or vertical mode, holding the Nintendo DSi normally or like a book. Whichever way you play, you’re guaranteed maximum fun!" It costs 500 DSi Points.
