Out of relative obscurity, THQ has carved a profitable niche for itself in the videogames market, combining high quality unique gaming with world beating franchises.
Today it was announced that THQ was the number two publisher in the States, owing to the PlayStation 2 game Red Faction topping the charts, and the continued success of Smackdown 2: Know Your Role.
"We are very pleased with our performance through the first five months of the year," said Brian Farrell, THQ president and CEO. "Building on recent successful releases including Red Faction for PS2 and GT Advance Championship Racing for Game Boy Advance, we intend to continue shipping games for all the new console systems in 2001. We also intend to continue to capitalise on the legacy platforms with games at various price points."
