Nintendo of Japan has set up a subsidiary company to handle the massive Pokemon brand on a global basis.
The new company will be called Pocket Monsters and will deal with all things Pokemon related, including future game projects, branding logistics and copyright safeguarding.
The company will be lead by former Creatures Inc President, Tsunekazu Ishihara, and will be based the Chuo Ku district of Tokyo.
Pokemon accounts for a massive percentage of Nintendo’s recent success and has powered the flagging Game Boy Color and Nintendo 64 for some time now.
A Nintendo spokesman said, “This new company, working closely with Nintendo, will allow us to concentrate on our core offering: making the best games and game machines in the world.”
