This week's downloadable Nintendo releases

It's that day before Saturday! That means new games releases. If you can't be arsed to haul yourself down to your nearest interactive entertainment emporium, however, Nintendo can help you get something shiny and new without having to shuffle off the sofa. This week Ninty's putting up a couple of WiiWare releases and a spot of Kawashima on DSiWare.

Let's start small. A Little Bit of... Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training: Maths Edition has maths puzzles, dunnit? As well as the stuff you'd expect, Nintendo tells us, "you can also relax with a game of Germ Buster. Or try the new Themes Mode, where you can practise your acting and drawing skills using the Nintendo DSi Camera, Touch Screen and microphone!" It costs 800 points.

First up is Let's Catch from SEGA. It's... well, it's a catch game. According to Nintendo, it's better than a tennis ball because you can, "Choose from six different single and multi-player modes such as Speed Catch, which tests your ability to catch a fast ball, and Bomb Catch, an elimination party game for up to four players." The game also makes use of Miis. You get access to special features if you also have a copy of Let's Tap, a boxed Wii release from SEGA that's out today. Let's Catch will cost you 1,000 Wii Points.

Also on WiiWare is Icarian: Kindred Spirits from Over the Top Games. It's about a winged lass called Nyx who has to drop down from heaven to find her pal, Icarus. According to the official spiel you can "Fly over the ruins of ancient Greece and avoid falling into blazing sands or perishing in the claws of cruel harpies and hydras. You will need the help of Zeus and other benevolent Gods from Olympus to summon their powers. They will let you cast rays, modify the scenery and control winds." You can also play with a mate, who will wield the power of the gods, which should be nice for them. It'll set you back 1,000 Wii Points.
