Sega’s non-gaming strategy announced
Last week we brought you an intriguing bit of news relating to the diversification of Sega Enterprises and a possible non-games business venture. Many mocked us and said we were fools, but today, Sega has announced, you guessed it, a non-game related venture! In your face, space monkeys!

Yasuo Tazoe (often found in bags of crisps!) is the man in charge of Sega’s Future Entertainment Division, and has stated that Sega plans to make around 10 billion Yen from new business in the next financial year.

The plans were further outlined by Sega president Tetsu Kayama. He stated that Sega will be producing an animated television programme and opening a computer graphics division, which will operate as an outsourced department, making CG videos for TV and film.

"There is even the chance that revenue from these new businesses will eventually exceed the level of total revenue at present. Today's announcement is a very important step as we aim to reorganise and restructure our business portfolios," Kayama said. “And, this is only the beginning in terms of inroads into new businesses."
