Ubisoft Chief Executive Officer Yves Guillemot has been making the kinds of claims for E3 and his own company that will hearten
Peter Moore in his quest for swagger.
First up, “People will be dreaming about
Avatar after seeing it at E3. People will have never witnessed anything like it before. This is an investment in technology we will be able to put into our future products.” In case you'd forgotten,
Avatar, is Ubi's 3D gaming tie-in with Mr Murdoch's Fox pictures. Msr Guillemot even states, "This 3D aspect will one day become must-have."
Crikey, that's what we call Swagger.
Next up, the good Msr is quoted - but not directly - as follows, "Guillemot said 10 percent of Ubisoft’s workforce is working on developing games for the next generation of game systems that will eventually replace Nintendo Co.’s Wii, Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 and Sony Corp.’s PlayStation 3."
Now, bear in mind that despite this looking like saying Ubisoft has development kit for the PS4, WiiII and Xbox 720, nowhere does he say this. Bloomberg infers it. What he does say is, "What has helped us is we always take the new technologies right at the beginning of their availability, and we go after them faster than everyone else. The company was one of the first to make titles exclusively for the Wii."
Yup, Peter Moore over EA must be chuffed with Yves strutting.
