Activision has finally confirmed the development of
Guitar Hero: Van Halen, as well as announcing that
Guitar Hero 5,
DJ Hero and the family-oriented
Band Hero will be with us in Autumn.
Activision Blizzard confirmed the existence of the long-rumoured game to
Joystiq, noting that as well as Van Halen tracks there will be guest appearences from the likes of Queen, Weezer, blink-182, The Offspring, Queens of the Stone Age. It didn't confirm exact tracks, but
Little Guitars,
Cathedral,
Spanish Fly, and the instrumental
Eruption were all mentioned in a
leaked Achievements list last month.
The game will be out some time in the second half of this year.
Van Halen purists will be pleased to hear that this is all David Lee Roth and we won't be hearing anything from Sammy Hagar.
In an official announcement, Activision Blizzard also unshockingly announced
Guitar Hero 5. Little by way of detail was given, barring the statement that it will offer "unprecedented level of control over the way the way they play the game with the ability to drop in and out of songs and change band members, instruments and difficulty levels on the fly."
Then
DJ Hero, for which we showed you
pictures of the peripheral this morning. It will feature, "diverse music genres including hip-hop, R&B, Motown, electronica and dance", allowing players to "(create) original mixes of popular songs and music from the world's most exciting artists and DJs."
Finally,
Band Hero. "The franchises' first E10+ rated console game,
Band Hero delivers an exciting music collection featuring top-40 hits designed to expand the appeal to a broad family audience who can play together on the guitar, drums, bass and microphone and experience a new genre of music", the official spiel tells us.
And that's how you can get heroic this Autumn.
