Hot on the heels of further rumours about a UMD-less PSP, Capcom has confirmed that it will bypass Sony's disc format for the upcoming European release of its anime beat-'em-up,
Fate/Unlimited Codes.
Capcom says that this doesn't mean it has abandoned UMD, however. “We certainly do not intend to stop supporting UMD”, a rep told
MCV. “Certainly for us PSP is very important – more so with
Monster Hunter coming – than maybe any other publisher.”
The move will mirror the game's US release.
This comes as a new rumour suggests that a new PSP, with no UMD support and a sliding screen, will be
announced at E3.
The Capcom news also comes not long after confirmation from Sony that it
won't release Patapon 2 on UMD in America.
Another death knell for UMD? Sounds a bit like it, doesn't it?
