Good old Capcom; good old (the) PlayStation Network; good old Xbox Live! Why? We like retro gaming, is one reason.
We are reliably informed by Capcom's Corporate Officer and Vice-president of Strategic Planning & Business Development (phew!), Christian Svensson, (via his blog) that the heavily rumoured appearance of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network is happening. However, we're only being told that it's "coming this Summer".
There is a video at the bottom of the this story for you to enjoy. However, in brief, you're getting:
- It’s based on the Dreamcast code-base.
- It's developed by Backbone using "largely the same" net code used in Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix.
- All 56 characters will be unlocked at the start for immediate play.
- HD as well as Classic modes, and original Dreamcast textures used!
A huge slice of retro arcade sweetness. Here comes summer.

The term 'retro' really shouldn't be applied to a game that's still regularly stocked and played to death in arcades all around the world.
It's still one of the most actively-used coin-ops, runs on Naomi and was last released on a console in 2002.
