Friday's rolled around again, meaning there are new WiiWare titles sat waiting for you to foist your Nintendo Points upon them. This week, we've got Crystal Defenders R1 from Square Enix and Adventure Island: The Beginning from Hudson.
Crystal Defenders R1 is a tower defence game set in the Final Fantasy universe. It's already had versions released on mobile phone, iPhone, XBLA and there's a PS3 version in the pipeline for Japan.
It demands that you deploy units such as Soldiers and Black Mages with the aim of stopping a horde of monsters having away with your party's crystals. They love to spoil a good party, them monsters...
There's a range of different unit types at your disposal. Some specialise in brutal short-range attacks, some have far reaching magicks to throw about while others have bows that will prove handy in taking down airborne attackers.
There are a number of stages, varying in layout and difficulty. Each time an enemy exits one of them, you'll lose a crystal. Lose the lot and it's Game Over.
The game will be followed by Crystal Defenders R2, another WiiWare title coming soon. You can get this one for 800 Points.
Also ready to soak up your Nintendo Points is a return to Adventure Island thanks to Hudson.
Titled The Beginning, the game puts players back in the company of Master Higgins. It follows the sidescrolling, platforming formula of the NES original, but throws in a 3D twist, a bunch of mini games and new skills and elements.
Nintendo tells us, "Search for Golden Melons hidden throughout the stages and Mini Games. When obtaining Golden Melons, you'll be able to purchase various items to help you on your adventure. Items purchased will increase your attack power or enable you to reach places you couldn't get to before."
If you meet certain requirements in a level, you'll complete a 'Master Higgins Feat', which will reward you with a new costume.
You can have it for 1,000 points.
