"Key" Unannounced Nintendo Property this Year
According to Dan DeMatteo, CEO of US retail giant, GameStop, there's a big Nintendo property set to have a new release by the end of the year.

Speaking to CNBC in an interview published yesterday, DeMatteo said, "We think there will be a Nintendo key property coming out by the end of the year. They haven't given us any insight, but they have told us to reserve [shelf] space."

The article gives no more detail, but mentions speculation that this could be a Zelda game. If that makes you worried that this is editorial that's been sat around awaiting publication since before the GDC Spirit Tracks announcement - fear not. Mention is given to the PS2 price cut, which happened after the GDC Zelda announcement.

Let the speculation commence!

What a waste, a "Zelda" game (with that daft English countryside accent reserved for comedies).. How many sales is Nintendo going to loose by not releasing the Wii based handheld (game cube based handheld) the chip must be within power spec by now (even for a 1Ghz upgrade) but why wait until it can be done for $100. Half the Sony PSP sales so far, and a good portion of Iphone/Itouch sales (remember the Nintendo phone).

The goose that laid the golden egg rather than eggs (Sony and Apple has those) is getting old, and some changes at Sony and Apple (or others) can steal the show. Until people stop being Moronic spending good money on a $60 handheld, Nintendo is going to keep it until hopefully they can replace it in time to avoid a crash (remember the transition period of the late 80's/90's).

Wait, their new game is Excitebots: Stunt Race FX 2, in all but name. Lol.

I agree. Nintendo could have made a better DS with the DSi, but while its cool, seems very half hearted. A GC style DS would have pleased everyone, across the board. Their backward coming forward thinking, can be frustrating, and i the long run only sees to make them money.

In a similar way, the Wii was a technically thought out mess, beyond the controls, without IMO, consoletation for non-Nintendo developers, who's needs are different.. That's why that 512mb internal memory, stupidly seems cool to Nintendo, but no one else. The result is less development on Wii.

Overall, I do hope its a Kid Icarus or Mach Rider game, if not something new. We seem to get less new games from Nintendo these days.
