Gamers are, it would seem, a bunch with healthier aspirations than
Change4Life would have us believe. Nearly a year after its launch,
Wii Fit is once again at the top of the UK All Formats game Charts.
Yes, again. It's beaten out far newer titles such as Capcom's
Resident Evil 5 (down from Number 1 to Number 2), Ubisoft/Midway's
Wheelman (up seven places to Number 4,
reviewed here) and Capcom's
Street Fighter IV (down three places to Number 6).
Wii Fit has now equalled Nintendo’s previous longest-serving Number 1,
Pokemon Yellow, with 10 weeks at the top.
Indeed, the whole Top 10 is looking a bit tired - several older titles pepper the rest of it. Number 3 is occupied by EA's
FIFA 09 (up three places), Activision Blizzard’s
Call of Duty: World at War is up two places to Number 5 and even the game's predecessor,
Modern Warfare (now 18 months old), is lurking at Number 8.
Of course, no Top 10 stuffed full of old titles would be complete without that most tenacious of titles –
Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games. SEGA's casual fun fest is sitting pretty at Number 9, beating out Rockstar's
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars (Number 10, down from Number 8,
reviewed here).
There are but two brand new entries into the Top 40 this week, with neither having made the Top 10. Warner Bros'
Wanted: Weapons of Fate makes its debut at Number 15, while Blade Interactive’s
WSC Real 09: World Snooker Championship is in at Number 39.
Next week, look out for EA's
The Godfather II.
