The Nintendo Games Developers Conference ended on a high, with the announcement of a brand spanking new
Zelda game.
The game, provisionally titled
The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, will be launched for the DS and should be with us this year.
Little was revealed about the game, but it looks like it's train-themed. A video shown at the conference showed Link playing engineer on a train with a front-mounted cannon. It also looks like it will play a little like
Phantom Hourglass, with maps on the top screen and gameplay on the bottom.
More on this as we get it.
UPDATE: Nintendo has just sent out the official word on the new game. It goes like this: "The new
The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks game that Iwata announced will utilise the intuitive touch control of
Phantom Hourglass in an all new adventure that will please longtime
Zelda fans while keeping the game accessible to all DS owners. The concept behind this
Zelda game includes utilising a steam locomotive to travel around the world, switching Phantom and Link to explore the dungeons, and solving puzzles using new items."
