GDC: Wii Storage Solution Launched
While Nintendo president Satoru Iwata's been busy with his Game Developer Conference keynote, his company has gone ahead and put the long-awaited SD card storage solution for the Wii live.

That means that once you've got your Wii updated, you'll be able to play downloaded games directly from an SD card. Games launched will temporarily use the Wii's system menu, but they'll no longer be sitting there eating up your internal memory.

What's more, Nintendo confirmed at the GDC keynote that the size of compatible SD cards will no longer be limited to 2GB.

Players access games through a small icon at the bottom of their Wii menu, with up to 240 games displayed.

Does anybody know if the latest update will allow the Wii to support 4gb SDHC cards or just 4gb SD cards?

Thanks

See, now this is great but far over due.

All that's needed now, is a nice Wii Demo channel, and I'd think about getting one. Might actually see more devs get onboard Wii now.

Funny how all that Nintendo saying in the past, 'Wii is fine how it is with storage', has long since disappeared. Eat humble pie, Nintendo. Its okay to wrong sometimes.

I always wondered about this magic power of being able to make demo's that pulls in developers. Does it use fairy dust, arcane mana wells or contracts with elemental spirits?

I thaught, because the Wii has the most games of all three consoles it meant the most developers wrok on it.
