Max is back... and frankly, he's not looking good.

Rockstar Confirms Max Payne 3 for Winter 09
Rockstar Games (via its parent, Take-Two Interactive) has confirmed the arrival this winter of Max Payne 3. The game - developed by Rockstar Vancouver, will be popping up on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

And yes, it still tells the story of "Max Payne, a hard-boiled New York City detective with a penchant for violence, out to avenge the death of his family". But apparently the third iteration moves Max's story in a 'different direction'. Let's hope its away from Mark Wahlberg.

Rockstar's Sam Houser says, "This is Max as we've never seen him before, a few years older, more world-weary and cynical than ever. We experience the downward spiral of his life after the events of Max Payne 2 and witness his last chance for salvation."

His last chance? Surely not? Well, from the look of the image (right) Max is certainly looking far from well. Maybe it's all that avenging.

Max Payne 1 was the best and imo the character looked a lot better too, but looking at the number 3 version of the character sure he has aged but kinda looks like Sam Fisher in the latest yet to be released SplinterCell Conviction...

this is going to be the next best thing to happen to rockstar i hope it uses the physics system from gta iv and it would turn out to be a great game

I hope they modify the physics engine as GTA 4 is extremely unrealistic in terms of physics. The kind of game Max Payne is the physics would have to be on par but a bit better than the first installment of the game.

Sigh, It is always you that gets information wrong. Heres a quote as i cba typing it;
Grand Theft Auto IV takes advantage of Natural Motion's Euphoria engine, which combines artificial intelligence, bio mechanics and physics to make NPC behaviour and movement adaptive and more realistic.

Seriously GTA4 is the closest thing to realisitic, realtime, AI driving physics. Im sure you think Halo 3 is more realistic in physics. Why do you always post completely bs information >.<

Thanks for the BS information you posted.

Realistic as in the movie sense, you dont see in movies half of the mad physics you get in games and GTA 4 is one of them, vehicle and explosion physics are way off the chart.

Max Payne being a different kind of game needs to use physics on the scale of Halo 1.

Really you're both full of BS. Halo had s**t physics, i mean... a giant ring in space does not have enough mass to have the gravitational pull it had. Completely unrealistic.

Max Payne is about shooting s**t in New York in slo-mo, hell the first one didn't even have a proper physics engine, the second one did but didn't do anything usefull with it.

Seeing what kind of game Max Payne really is, it should have the Madworld physics engine, and style, butt less over the top.

Um i would imagine that the 'gravity' on the halo ring would not be gravity but the effect of centripetal force due to the ring spinning. Think spinning a bucket of water around yourself, and the water not falling out. This is not centrifugal force, this is the internal stresses that are experienced by a spinning object, we as non attached objects on the halo ring wopuld experience centripetal force.
Other applications of this are the space station in 2001 space odyssey, or ring world by larry niven or those spinning cages at fairs were you 'stick' to the walls.
I hope that max payne 3 utilises a physic systems that demonstrates acceleration towards the earth at the realistic 9.81ms^-2. Unlike halo's that inexplicably had the lower gravity pull, that would of been fine on the halo based levels, but when the game moves to earth they could of at least changed it OMG! how dare they.
The best physics engine in any game is still the source one, which is essentially an edited havok engine. But that was fps, dunno if they could use it for 3rdps.
