Back in July last year ,News 4 WOAI's Delaine Mathieu in San Antonio in the United States, decided to ask what would happen, "If your child came across a gun, what do you think they would do with it? Tell an adult? Pick it up? Pull the trigger?"
Yes, we know this is like one of those eternal questions like, "Would I bleed to death if I chopped my own head off?" or "What would your child do it you left a pink bucket of liquid nitrogen with the words 'Ice Cream' written on it in their room." But this passes for
serious journalism for Delaine.
Rather than saying to herself, "Children and guns are not a good idea, move on". Delaine, "wanted to try something. With a Northside ISD police officer's help, we put a group of children in a room with a real, unloaded gun to see what they would do when they thought no one was watching."
So, the woman who puts kids in a room with an unloaded gun now wants to give us some advice on sex predators, children and the Nintendo DS. To show that she knows what she's talking about, she says, "Here's some good news for parents: Nintendo's new game, the DSi will come equipped with parental control."
That's right, Nintendo's 'new game is the DSi'. However, parental controls or not... putting your child alone in a room with a loaded Nintendo DS can be dangerous. At least according to one parent and child.
While playing on her DS, the child received a couple of messages, "The third message said, 'What kind of game are you playing? Is it a game with animals? I have animals. Do you have any pets?' That's when my mom radar went off. So I said, okay, something's not right," said the mother.
Fortunately it's the mother, rather than Delaine, who proceeds to give sage advice about ensuring that kids come and speak their carers about talking to strangers.
We'd imagine that Delaine's experiment might be to see what happens if you put a crowd of perverts in WiFi space as child with a DS.
