It's amazing what not being able to run'n'shoot, combined with semi-literate debates about racism, plus semi-hilarious 'racism' experts, plus a multi-format release can do for a game. In the case of Capcom's
Resident Evil 5, all this has shot it to the top of the charts (as compiled by Chart-Track).
According to Chart-Track, the new number one in the All Formats chart saw 45% of its sales going to the PS3 - while newcomer to game five in the survival horror classic, the Xbox 360 took the 55% lions share.
Resident Evil 5 is, in fact, "the largest (selling) All Formats No1 since
Call of Duty: World at War’s second week back in week 47 2008".
How big was the sales of
RE 5? They are "slightly more than the combined sales of all the remaining All Formats Top 10 titles."
Aside from this... everything bar
Mario & Sonic saw sales drop this week.
All is not doom and gloom at T-virus for the PS3 however, as Chart-Track points out that "
RE5 on PS3 has outsold
RE4’s PS2 launch week by 3.22 to 1."
