Wii Virtual Console: Wonder Boy in Clu Clu Land
It's nearly here - that all too brief island of time nestled between the great, grey behemothic oceans of This Week and Next Week. The weekend! And we know all too well that as we row towards the shores of that welcome break, we meet an old friend - Nintendo Wii downloads! This week it's Virtual Console with NES classic Clu Clu Land and another Wonder Boy outing - Monster Lair.

Clu Clu Land is about as retro as you get on Nintendo platforms, having first seen the light of day in Japan in the time before time - 1984. Players navigate Bubbles around mazes, trying to grab as many gold ingots (stolen by the nefarious Unira, a Sea Urchin!) as possible. Bubbles gets around by grabbing posts and swinging in your direction of choice, but she has to watch out for them nasty spiky Sea Urchins. If you fancy it, you can get all co-operative with a two-player mode. It'll set you back 500 Wii Points.

Next up is the third outing of Wonder Boy, ominously titled Monster Lair. There's a town, right? It's called Xenobia. It used to be quiet, but now it's not so much. Guess who has to sort it out... yup, Leo. or, as SPOnG likes to refer to him - YOU. If you want a spot of help with jumping around holding your sword, you can get a mate involved in two-player co-op as Priscilla. Originally released on the Mega Drive in 1989, this one will set you back 800 Wii Points.

This week's releases put Virtual Console's total up to 280.
