It's the weekend, so it's time to think about what is great in life: snowboarding and beer. That's if either a) you're lucky enough to be in a country of snow and mountains, or b) you have a Wii and feel inclined to check out this week's WiiWare releases.
First up is
Snowboard Riot from Hudson. For those of you struggling to massage your brain cells together as the week draws to a close - it's a snowboarding game. As well as careening down the slopes at high speeds, Nintendo informs us you'll be "snatching up items to attack and defend against your rivals".
The particularly good news in this case is that the game is compatible with the Balance Board, while also enabling players to compete with up to three other players via Wi Fi. The goggles and outerwear in the game are provided by Oakley (real-life 2008 products, no less) with the music provided by electro popsters 80kidz.
You can have it for 1,000 Wii Points.
Next up is
Beer Pong: Frat Party Games. Based on the drinking game Beer Pong, it involves using the Wii Remote to lob ping pong balls into beer cups. Players can land consecutive shots for Fireball bonuses and Roll-Backs as they compete either against their mates or the computer. Also thrown in is Speed Pong, which sees up to three players competing simultaneously, using power-ups to mess with their mates in their bid to be the first player to sink a ball into the last cup.
You might remember that
over in the US mindless fury at the game containing references to that most evil of substances, beer, saw its name changed to
Pong Toss. Thank goodness we have a healthier attitude towards alcohol over here, eh?
Beer Pong can be yours for 800 Wii Points.
