As
we suggested might happen following the declaration of the US launch of Nintendo's DSi handheld, the company has confirmed launch details for Europe. It will hit on April 3rd, ahead of the USA.
It will be priced at £149.99. It will come in white or black. According to Nintendo's general manager, David Yarnton, speaking to
MCV, the company is "not going to stop stocking DS Lite, we’ll have that in the market too."
The price-point, however, comes not from the official Nintendo press information - which can be
found here. This studiously avoids mention of price, stating, "Nintendo will launch its new handheld console, the Nintendo DSi, in Europe on 3 April 2009. The Nintendo DSi will be available in black or white and is the thinnest and lightest member of the Nintendo DS family."
The price point comes from information from
The Times and
MCV.
